Core Responsibilities
- Manage a full caseload of personal injury matters including catastrophic injury, motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, wrongful death, and products liability from case evaluation through trial.
- Develop, maintain, and grow a book of business through referral networks, bar association participation, and professional relationships; cross-sell firm practice areas to existing clients.
- Handle all phases of litigation from case evaluation through resolution, including pleadings, discovery, depositions, mediation, and trial.
- Develop case strategy, identify plausible legal solutions, and conduct thorough case valuation assessments on all assigned matters.
- Draft and finalize legal documents including complaints, meet and confer letters, motions to compel, discovery responses, briefs, and stipulations; assist in preparing litigation reports and risk assessments.
- Prepare and argue motions including dispositive motions, motions in limine, and appellate submissions; attend all court hearings and proceedings.
- Lead trial preparation and serve as first or second chair at trial; appear in California Superior Court, Courts of Appeal, and federal district courts.
- Conduct and defend depositions; prepare and defend witnesses; retain and analyze expert consultants.
- Negotiate settlements and represent clients in mediations, arbitrations, and settlement conferences.
- Build and maintain trustworthy relationships with clients, referral sources, and expert witnesses; meet personally with clients to provide case updates and candid legal counsel.
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate associates, paralegals, and legal staff; review work product and conduct performance feedback.
- Stay current on applicable legislation, case law, and developments in personal injury law; comply with California Rules of Professional Conduct and court rules.
Minimum Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's degree in a law-related field required.
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school required.
- Active bar license to practice law in California in good standing.
Experience
- Minimum 15 years of civil litigation experience with an emphasis on personal injury matters.
- Portable book of business with established referral relationships and demonstrated commitment to business development.
- Trial experience as first or second chair strongly required.
- Experience with high-volume mediations, arbitrations, and settlement conferences.
- Strong knowledge of California state and federal court rules and procedures.
- Exceptional oral advocacy, negotiation, and legal writing skills.
- Proven ability to manage a high-volume caseload independently and effectively.
- Plaintiff-side trial experience strongly preferred.

Pay: From $200,000.00 per year
