Senior Associate / Special Counsel – Income Tax
We are seeking an outstanding income tax lawyer, who is commercially astute, technically accomplished and ambitious with exceptional drafting, communication and client management skills.
This role will be working closely with Stuart Broadfoot who is a Sydney-based Tax partner whose practice focuses on complex international and Australian corporate and finance tax advisory and transactional matters.
This is a compelling opportunity for a Senior Associate or Special Counsel who is looking to further a first-rate practice, work with a sophisticated client base, and assume a key role on complex transactional, structuring and advisory mandates across corporate, M&A, funds and finance.
In Australia, our tax team advises on a range of domestic and cross-border matters for corporates, venture capital, funds, private capital and financial services providers, combining premier local capability with the reach, depth and resources of a leading international practice.
Our lawyers operate seamlessly across practices and jurisdictions, providing the opportunity to deepen your Australian and international income tax expertise while contributing to significant matters and building enduring client relationships.
The role
This role also offers significant potential for an ambitious lawyer looking to succeed, with close partner access and support and an outstanding platform for career progression. For the right candidate, there is genuine scope and support for the role to progress as you continue to develop your practice, deepen client relationships and strengthen your standing in the market.
You will be based in Sydney and work on a broad mix of Australian and international tax matters. We are open to candidates at Senior Associate or Special Counsel level, ideally with strong experience gained at a leading law firm. You will bring the judgment and presence to manage sophisticated matters and translate complex ideas into client-focused advice, structures and deliver high-quality legal drafting.
What sort of work will you do?
On a day-to-day basis, you will advise on a broad range of sophisticated Australian and international tax matters. Your work is likely to include:
- Australian income tax advice on corporate and financing transactions;
- Cross-border structuring for inbound and outbound investment;
- Domestic and international Fund formation, structuring and advice;
- Redomiciliations, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and restructures; and
- Employee share scheme advice and implementation.
