About this role

EpsteinSchwartz Legal Search has an exciting new in-house opportunity. Our client, a CPG company located in the northwest suburbs, is hiring a corporate counsel with intellectual property experience to join its dynamic team. This attorney will work closely with internal clients and stakeholders, manage a broad variety of IP related matters and corporate contracts, and report directly to the General Counsel.

Corporate Counsel Responsibilities

:

  • Manage international and domestic patent portfolios, working closely with internal clients and outside counsel;
  • Review and advise internal clients on patent prosecution, patent applications, infringement and cease & desist letters;
  • Assist with trademark and copyright matters;
  • Negotiate, draft and review soft IP related documents, including licensing, marketing, advertising and sponsorship agreements;
  • Advise internal clients and stakeholders regarding digital rights, privacy, social media, advertising and promotions;
  • Negotiate, draft and review a variety of contracts and vendor agreements;
  • Review and provide counsel regarding external marketing materials and product packaging;
  • Engage, manage and oversee outside counsel as needed; and
  • Support General Counsel in any additional legal matters or special projects.

Corporate Counsel Qualifications

:

  • 4-8 years of broad intellectual property experience gained from a law firm or in-house practice;
  • Experience managing and assisting with the management of domestic and international patent portfolios;
  • Experience handling transactional trademark and copyright matters;
  • Familiarity with digital rights, social media, advertising and promotions;
  • Proven ability to negotiate, draft and review a variety of agreements and contracts;
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects;
  • Collaborative mindset, strong communication skills and an interest in joining a well-established collegial team; and
  • Admission (in good standing) in at least one state and ability to waive into Illinois bar.
