About this role
Overview: Busy law firm seeks an attorney to work on a mix of general practice and criminal and post-conviction matters. Full-time salaried position with benefits offered. A part-time position will be considered as well, for the right candidate. CT Bar Admission required. Admission in surrounding states is a plus.
This position affords the opportunity to work on a mix of general practice matters, along with significant criminal cases, perform high-level legal research and writing, and appear in court. The majority of the criminal and post-conviction cases handled by the attorney will be habeas corpus cases, but appellate work may also be available. For those new to these practice areas, work will initially focus on core, staff attorney tasks.
The firm’s main office is located in Middletown, CT, and a satellite office is located in Stonington, CT. Some flexibility in working hours and work-from-home flexibility is offered after a probationary period.
The selected candidate will work on a variety of cases provided by the firm. The ideal candidate will have an interest in or experience in criminal, appellate, or habeas corpus litigation; special education law; business law; elder law; or probate and estate administration.
Qualifications:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

Admitted to practice law in the State of Connecticut (or pending admission in 2026)

Proficient in legal research and writing

Excellent organizational and time management skills

Ability to independently prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
