About the Opportunity:
As AACo continues to execute on its strategy and grow across the business, we’re expanding our Legal team and are looking for a Legal Counsel to join us in a newly created role.
This is a great opportunity if you’re looking to move in-house or broaden your experience. You’ll get real responsibility from day one, broad exposure across the business, and you will work closely with senior lawyers, the General Counsel and Company Secretary and a wide range of stakeholders.
You’ll play a key role in providing practical, commercially focused legal advice and supporting governance and compliance across the organisation. You’ll be part of a high-performing, collaborative legal team with a strong reputation across the business.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- With the support of senior lawyers, providing pragmatic legal advice across commercial, regulatory and operational matters, including contracts, compliance, marketing, sales and distribution, intellectual property, employment, property and risk management.
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a broad range of commercial agreements across the business.
- Supporting the development and continuous improvement of legal templates, processes and compliance frameworks.
- Assisting with company secretarial and corporate governance activities, including supporting the effective implementation of governance policies and procedures.
- Partnering with internal stakeholders to support key business and people initiatives.
- Engaging with external legal advisers.
What you will bring to this role:
- An early-career lawyer with 2+ years of post-qualification experience.
- A Bachelor of Laws and admission to practise in an Australian State or Territory.
- Strong commercial judgement, with the ability to provide clear, practical and solutions-focused advice.
- The ability to build trusted relationships and influence stakeholders across the business.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- An adaptable and proactive mindset, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work across a broad range of legal matters.
- Experience working in-house and/or in an ASX-listed or highly regulated environment (desirable, not required).
- Exposure to intellectual property and trademarks, privacy, marketing/consumer law or commercial contracting (desirable, not required).
