About this role

Overview We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our legal team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support a wide range of legal practices, including estate planning, litigation, family law, and more. The ideal candidate will be proactive, organized, and possess a strong passion for legal research and administrative excellence. As a vital member of our law office, you will assist attorneys with case management, document review, legal drafting, and client communication to ensure smooth operations and exceptional service delivery.

Duties

  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to attorneys and legal staff, including scheduling appointments, managing calendars, and coordinating meetings.
  • Conduct legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other legal research tools to support case development across various practice areas.
  • Assist with document review, drafting contracts, pleadings, and other legal documents while ensuring accuracy through proofreading and transcription.
  • Support litigation processes by preparing discovery documents, organizing evidence, and assisting with trial preparation.
  • Conduct client interviews and gather relevant information to facilitate case development; communicate effectively with clients while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Perform data entry tasks related to case management systems; ensure all records are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Handle clerical responsibilities such as filing, faxing, copying, and maintaining organized office workflows.
  • Maintain professional phone etiquette when communicating with clients and courts.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a paralegal or legal assistant in a fast-paced law office environment.
  • Strong knowledge of various practice areas including estate planning, family law, landlord-tenant law, personal injury law, and litigation procedures.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Exceptional computer skills and strong proofreading abilities.
  • Familiarity with data entry tasks and clerical functions within a busy legal setting.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Knowledge of legal administrative procedures including filing systems (both electronic and paper-based) and record keeping standards.
  • Effective communication skills coupled with professional phone etiquette; ability to interact confidently with clients and team members alike.
