About this role

Overview We are seeking a dynamic and highly skilled In-House Attorney and Chief Operating Officer to lead our legal affairs and operational strategies. This pivotal role combines comprehensive legal expertise with executive leadership, ensuring the organization’s compliance, risk management, and strategic growth. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem-solver with a passion for fostering a compliant, innovative, and efficient environment. This role offers an exciting opportunity to influence key business decisions while overseeing legal functions and operational excellence within a fast-paced organization.

Duties

  • Provide expert legal counsel across diverse practice areas including estate planning, environmental law, immigration law, landlord-tenant law, family law, securities law, workers' compensation law, personal injury law, tribal law & regulations, litigation, and patent law.
  • Lead negotiations with external partners, clients, regulators, and stakeholders to secure favorable terms and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Oversee all legal research activities utilizing tools such as LexisNexis and Westlaw to inform decision-making and maintain up-to-date legal knowledge.
  • Draft and review legal documents including contracts, policies, pleadings, and correspondence with precision and clarity.
  • Manage the law office’s administrative functions, ensuring efficient workflows and adherence to best practices in legal administration.
  • Develop and implement operational strategies that enhance organizational effectiveness while maintaining rigorous legal standards.
  • Collaborate closely with executive leadership to align legal initiatives with overall business goals; serve as a trusted advisor on complex legal issues affecting the organization.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school; admission to the bar is required.
  • Extensive experience practicing in multiple legal domains such as estate planning, environmental law, immigration law, landlord-tenant law, family law, securities law, workers' compensation law, personal injury law, tribal law & regulations, litigation, and patent law.
  • Proven negotiation skills demonstrated through successful stakeholder engagements.
  • Strong research capabilities utilizing LexisNexis and Westlaw for comprehensive legal analysis.
  • Exceptional writing skills with a focus on clear legal drafting and documentation.
  • Prior experience managing a busy law office or legal department with proficiency in legal administrative processes.
