Criminal Defense Attorney

Responsibilities

• Cover court dates for cases in both traffic and criminal law
• Represent clients in criminal cases, including arraignments, hearings, trials, and appeals
• Conduct thorough legal research using LexisNexis and Westlaw to develop case strategies
• Draft legal documents such as motions, pleadings, and briefs with precision and clarity
• Negotiate plea agreements and other resolutions with prosecutors to secure favorable outcomes
• Investigate case facts by interviewing witnesses, reviewing evidence, and consulting with experts
• Maintain detailed case files and documentation in the law office management system
• Stay informed on evolving laws related to criminal defense, including constitutional rights and procedural rules

Skills

• Strong knowledge of criminal law procedures and courtroom litigation techniques
• Excellent research skills utilizing LexisNexis, Westlaw, and other legal research tools
• Proficiency in legal drafting, writing skills, and effective communication with clients and courts
• Experience with negotiation tactics to resolve cases efficiently and favorably
• Familiarity with a broad range of legal areas including estate planning, environmental law, immigration law, family law, securities law, workers' compensation law, personal injury law, tribal law & regulations, patent law, landlord-tenant law, and litigation
• Legal administrative experience managing case files and court deadlines effectively
• Ability to work independently within a fast-paced law office environment while collaborating as part of a team

Pay: $75.00 - $250.00 per hour
