The Opportunity
In this role, you will support the governance and statutory compliance framework for Western Sydney University’s India entity. In this role, you will act as the key coordination point for company secretarial responsibilities, ensuring the entity meets obligations under the Companies Act, 2013 and other relevant Indian regulatory requirements while maintaining alignment with Western Sydney University governance standards.
You will provide secretariat support across the India campus governance structure, including the Board of Directors, governance committees, advisory committees and senior leadership forums. This will involve coordinating meeting cycles, preparing agendas and papers, recording minutes and resolutions, tracking actions, and maintaining accurate governance records, statutory registers and central repositories that are audit-ready and accessible.
You will also oversee compliance calendars, governance risk registers and contract registers, while coordinating responses to audits, inspections, accreditation activity and regulatory assessments. Working closely with regulators, auditors, statutory authorities, external legal advisers, Sydney Legal Counsel and the Sydney Risk Management function, you will help establish effective governance systems for a newly operating entity in a dual-jurisdiction environment. You will also support the drafting, review and execution of contracts, MoUs and institutional agreements, with a focus on obligation tracking, renewals and continuous improvement of governance capability.
What Success Looks Like:
- Statutory filings are completed accurately and on time in line with the Companies Act, 2013 and relevant Indian requirements.
- Governance records, statutory registers and compliance documentation are maintained in audit-ready condition.
- Board and committee meetings are well managed, with clear agendas, papers, minutes, resolutions and action tracking.
- Compliance risks, audit requirements and regulatory matters are identified early and escalated appropriately.
- Contracts, MoUs and institutional agreements are recorded, tracked and managed in line with governance requirements.

About You
- You are a qualified Company Secretary and a member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI).
- You hold a bachelor’s degree in Law, Commerce, Business or a related discipline. A relevant master’s qualification would be highly regarded.
- You bring at least 5–8 years’ experience in company secretarial, governance or compliance roles.
- You have strong knowledge of the Companies Act, 2013, MCA and RoC requirements, FEMA regulations, corporate governance practices and UGC requirements.
- You have well-developed organisational, documentation and stakeholder coordination skills, with experience supporting committee-based governance structures and compliance systems.
