As we enter a phase of strong growth, we are looking for a Head of Publisher to:
- Lead the partnership strategy with publishers
- Maximize the integration and certification of the Happydemics solution on the supply side
- Create a dedicated data offering for publishers
About the role
The successful candidate will take over the legal and contractual responsibilities previously handled by the Finance team (CFO), provide direct support to our DPO, particularly on Data Processing Agreements, and own the compliance & security scope (Vanta, internal policies) previously managed by the CTO. This is a cross-functional role working closely with Sales Ops, Procurement, Product/Tech and Finance teams.
Key responsibilities
1. Contract management & contract repository (40%)
- Own, maintain and evolve the Happydemics contract repository (document and management of client, vendor and partner contracts).
- Draft, review and negotiate commercial & marketing contracts : client and vendor T&Cs, SaaS agreements, subcontracting agreements, NDAs, Co Marketing Agreement, ….
- Coordinate tender processes and ensure legal compliance of responses.
- Advise Sales and Procurement teams (toute team qui engage des dépenses) on legal aspects of contracts.
- Monitor developments in commercial law and contract law applicable to the international SaaS environment.
2. Data protection - DPO support (20%)
- Support the DPO on day-to-day data privacy matters, with a particular focus on negotiating and managing Data Processing Agreements (DPAs).
- Be capable of stepping in when needed : sufficient command of GDPR documentation (registers, privacy policies, standard contractual clauses) to ensure continuity in the DPO's absence.
- Contribute to compliance with international data regulations applicable to the ad tech sector.
3. Compliance, Security & internal control (40%)
- Own operational compliance management, notably via Vanta (document verification, policy development with stakeholders, audit monitoring, maintain Trust Center).
- Ensure internal policies are implemented, applied, regularly reviewed and signed by all parties, including collaborators (security, risk management, compliance).
- Maintain compliance with applicable international frameworks : IAB, TCF (or equivalent in other regions), SOCII Type 2, ad tech standards, and other evolving frameworks that directly impact our processes, products and client relationships.
- Lead internal audits and control exercises (e.g. vendor risk assessment, regular access reviews, data retention policy application, ect…).
- Contribute to thinking on AI and its legal and regulatory implications for Happydemics.
Requirements
This role requires a solid in-house lawyer with genuine exposure to IT compliance. The ideal candidate is neither a pure legal expert with no tech culture, nor a compliance manager without a strong contractual foundation but someone who has worked at the intersection of both.
Education
Master’s degree in business law, commercial law, digital law or equivalent
Experience
5-8+ years of experience in In-house Counsel/Legal in international SaaS or tech/digital environment
Must Have
- Solid experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts (T&Cs, NDAs, DPAs) this is the core of the role
- Hands-on experience with GDPR / data privacy in a B2B context, ideally working alongside a DPO
- Fluent French and English : contracts and negotiations happen in both languages
- Experience in a scale-up setting: ability to build processes from scratch without an established legal team
- Experience in Management of project is strongly appreciated
Nice to have
- Prior exposure to compliance tools and frameworks (Vanta, ISO 27001, SOC 2, IAB TCF)
- Background in the ad tech or media tech industry
