Societe Generale is seeking a Legal Counsel to join its team in its Montreal’s office.

Reporting to a manager based outside Canada and working closely with teams across North America, you will play a key role in the negotiation, drafting, and execution of trading and financial markets documentation. In particular, you will be involved in negotiating and managing master trading agreements and related documentation in connection with derivatives, securities financing transactions, securities lending arrangements, and other financial products. Your responsibilities will include reviewing corporate and organizational documents, conducting legal due diligence, and analyzing counterparty comments and alternative forms of documentation. You will also work closely with legal, credit, front office, and collateral teams to resolve legal, risk, operational and transactional issues arising during negotiations. In addition, you will liaise with external counsel on complex matters and contribute to various legal, regulatory, and operational initiatives that support the organization’s financial markets activities.

Candidates should have at least three years of relevant experience in financial markets, derivatives, securities financing transactions, trading documentation or related areas, gained in a law firm, financial institution, or corporate legal department. Do you combine strong legal and commercial judgment with excellent communication and relationship-building skills? You must be a member of the Bar of a Canadian province to qualify. The ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, is a requirement. French is a strong asset. Réf. : #LI34404
