Creditors’ Rights / Collections Law Firm/General Litigation – Downtown Memphis

A well-established creditors’ rights and collections law firm in downtown Memphis is seeking an Associate Attorney to join our team. We are a 4-attorney, 25-person firm committed to professionalism, client service, and maintaining the highest standards of compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and court rules. A license to practice in Mississippi as well as Tennessee, adds considerable value.

This position is a good fit for an attorney who is organized, detail-oriented, comfortable in court, and able to manage a high-volume practice while maintaining accuracy, professionalism, and compliance. We are specifically looking for someone to handle Shelby County Circuit and Chancery matters originating in those courts and General Sessions appeals. The position will allow for development of their own practice on a percentage basis.

Responsibilities

The Associate Attorney will assist with all aspects of creditors’ rights and collection litigation, including:

  • Reviewing and managing litigation files
  • Drafting pleadings, motions, affidavits, orders, correspondence, and other legal documents
  • Attending court hearings, docket calls, motion hearings, and trials, particularly in Circuit and Chancery Courts
  • Communicating with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and firm staff
  • Reviewing accounts and documentation for accuracy and legal sufficiency
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations
  • Working with legal assistants, paralegals, and support staff to move cases efficiently
  • Maintaining accurate file notes and case status updates
  • Handling other legal and administrative duties as needed

Qualifications

  • Licensed to practice law in Tennessee, and preferably, also in Mississippi
  • Prior litigation, collections, creditors’ rights, or courtroom experience preferred
  • Strong writing, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage deadlines and a high-volume caseload
  • Professional demeanor with courts, clients, opposing counsel, and staff
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to compliance
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office, Outlook, case management systems, and electronic filing systems
  • Newer attorneys will be considered if they are motivated, dependable, and willing to learn
