Role Description This is a part-time, remote Law Clerk role supporting the Miami Chapter of PayrollOrg in its legal and compliance-related activities. The Law Clerk will conduct legal and regulatory research on federal, state, and local payroll, tax, and employment laws, summarizing findings into clear, practical guidance. Daily responsibilities include assisting with the preparation and review of legal documents, policy statements, compliance checklists, and educational materials for members. The role will also support the drafting and proofreading of contracts, memoranda, and correspondence, and help organize legal content for presentations, webinars, and chapter communications. The Law Clerk will collaborate with board members, legal advisors, and volunteers, providing timely support on projects while maintaining strict confidentiality and professional standards.

Qualifications

  • Foundational knowledge of Law, with a focus or interest in employment, tax, or payroll-related regulations.
  • Proficiency in Legal Document Preparation, including drafting, reviewing, and formatting legal and compliance documents.
  • Strong Research skills to interpret statutes, regulations, and guidance, and synthesize findings into clear summaries.
  • Excellent Writing and Communication skills to produce accurate, concise, and accessible legal content for non-legal audiences.
  • Current enrollment in or completion of a JD or paralegal program, or equivalent legal education or experience.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management, with the ability to meet deadlines in a remote setting.
  • Comfort with remote collaboration tools (e.g., email, shared documents, virtual meetings) and basic office software.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethical standards, confidentiality, and professionalism in handling sensitive information.
