About Hexagon Law
Hexagon Law is a new specialist probate and estate administration law firm being developed alongside Hexagon Life Planning Services Ltd, an established life-planning business based in the North West.
Hexagon Law will be the regulated legal arm of the wider Hexagon brand. It will focus on probate, estate administration and related regulated legal work. Wills, LPAs and general life-planning work will remain separate within Hexagon Life Planning Services Ltd.
We are now looking for an experienced probate solicitor to join Hexagon Law on a part-time employed basis and help build the firm from the ground up.
The role
We are looking for a solicitor with at least 3 years’ PQE and strong probate/estate administration experience to act as our senior supervising solicitor and proposed COLP, subject to SRA approval.
This is a key role in the business. The successful candidate will have involvement in supervision, matter progression, file review, compliance processes and the development of safe, efficient probate workflows.
The role will include:
- supervising probate and estate administration matters;
- reviewing and signing off key legal stages;
- reviewing probate applications before submission;
- reviewing inheritance tax forms and estate administration documents;
- supporting matter risk assessments;
- overseeing client care, scope of work and file-opening procedures;
- helping develop compliant templates, checklists and workflows;
- supervising junior/legal administration support;
- supporting the firm’s SRA compliance arrangements;
- acting as proposed COLP, subject to suitability and SRA approval;
- potentially acting as COFA as well, depending on experience and agreement.
The work
Hexagon Law will focus on:
- grant-only probate applications;
- probate with limited estate support;
- full estate administration;
- intestacy matters;
- taxable estates;
- executor support;
- estate administration advice;
- related trust/probate issues where appropriate.
The ideal candidate
You will be:
- a qualified solicitor with at least 3 years’ PQE;
- experienced in probate and estate administration;
- confident reviewing probate applications and IHT forms;
- practical, organised and commercially aware;
- comfortable supervising work carried out by others;
- able to give clear, plain-English advice to clients;
- interested in helping build a modern, client-focused probate firm;
- willing to work in a growing business with developing systems;
- open to acting as proposed COLP, subject to SRA approval.
COFA experience is desirable but not essential.
Working pattern
The role is initially expected to be 2 days per week. There is scope for this to increase to 3 days per week as the firm grows.
Hybrid working can be considered, although regular availability for supervision, file review and team support will be important.
Why join Hexagon Law?
This is an opportunity to help shape a new specialist probate firm at an early stage.
The business will be built around clear communication, efficient systems, good supervision and a better client experience. The successful candidate will have genuine influence over how the firm operates, how files are managed, and how probate services are delivered.
Salary
£45,000 to £65,000 FTE, pro rata, depending on experience and regulatory responsibility.
A higher package may be considered where the successful candidate also takes on COFA responsibility.
