Reporting to: Natasha Rafatnia Legal Director and Robert Barnard, Head of Operations

Our litigation and recoveries teams are supported by sophisticated case management technology and a culture focused on performance, innovation and client service. We are now seeking an ambitious Litigation & Insolvency Team Manager to help lead, develop and grow our expanding offering.

This is an opportunity for an experienced legal professional to play a key role in shaping the future direction of the department and become an integral part of our growth strategy.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a commercially minded leader with strong debt recovery, litigation and insolvency experience who can combine technical excellence with people leadership and operational delivery.

The successful candidate will lead and develop our existing team, drive continuous improvement across systems and processes and work closely with senior management to deliver strategic growth.

This is not a maintenance role. We are looking for someone who enjoys building teams, improving performance, embracing technology and delivering measurable results.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor and develop the litigation and insolvency team.
  • Conduct regular supervision, coaching and performance reviews.
  • Recruit, onboard and develop new team members.
  • Foster a high-performance culture built around accountability, teamwork and client service.
  • Ensure compliance with all firm policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.

Litigation & Insolvency Management

  • Maintain a personal caseload of complex debt recovery, litigation and insolvency matters.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to team members.
  • Oversee the progression of cases across all stages of the debt recovery lifecycle.
  • Manage disputed claims, enforcement actions, bankruptcy proceedings and insolvency matters.
  • Ensure quality standards and service levels are consistently achieved.

Operational Management

  • Monitor team performance against agreed KPIs and client SLAs.
  • Develop management information and reporting capabilities.
  • Identify and implement operational improvements.
  • Work closely with software developers and internal stakeholders to enhance automation and efficiency through our Visualfiles case management platform.
  • Manage billing processes and financial performance within the department.

Client Relationship Management

  • Build strong relationships with existing clients.
  • Attend client meetings and review service delivery performance.
  • Identify opportunities to improve client outcomes and expand services.
  • Support business development initiatives and contribute to winning new work.

Strategic Growth

  • Assist in developing and implementing departmental strategy.
  • Work with the Board to identify opportunities for growth and diversification.
  • Support the firm's marketing and thought leadership activities through articles, webinars and industry content.
  • Contribute to the continued development of innovative debt recovery and litigation solutions.

Candidate Profile

We are interested in ambitious individuals who want to build and lead a successful legal team.

You will ideally have:

  • Significant experience within debt recovery, litigation and/or insolvency.
  • Experience managing or supervising legal professionals.
  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of client requirements.
  • Experience of volume litigation and case management systems.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven ability to drive change, improve processes and implement operational improvements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • A positive, proactive and growth-focused mindset.
