Background

An opportunity has arisen for a Paralegal to join the Dispute Resolution department, within the Housing Management Team. The roleThe successful candidate will join the partner-led housing management unit which currently acts for a large number of social landlords across Wales. The team provides advice on a wide range of landlord and tenant matters including tenancy enforcement, housing related anti-social behaviour and disrepair.

Whilst the role will involve many aspects of housing management, there will be a primary focus on defending housing disrepair claims brought against housing associations and local authority landlords.

Duties will include:

  • Assisting team members in preparation of initial letters of advice to clients and responding to letters of claim
  • Drafting court pleadings in particular defences, counterclaims, applications to strike out and trial bundles
  • Instructing experts and considering their findings
  • Review and analysing of client records
  • Effective management of case diaries
  • Taking and preparing witness statements
  • Liaising with HMCTS
  • Updating clients with the progress of their cases
  • Dealing with telephone enquiries from clients
  • Assist team with financial aspects of cases including monthly invoicing and management of disbursements incurred
  • Accurately record time

Skills & Qualifications

The role will involve volume record review, so a high degree of attention to detail is essential. There will also be a requirement to maintain a detailed spreadsheet containing essential information regarding each case.

This role would ideally suit a candidate who is qualified to LPC or SQE level
