Our team work in a fast paced, exciting environment based at our Head Office located in the Preston Docks area.
This exciting role involves being responsible for the dealing of all legal matters in relation to client disputes, including advising and negotiating on legal matters internally and handling matters with external third parties including the Courts. Working as part of a small team you will handle your own case portfolio.
The ideal candidate will have 3-years’ previous experience in a paralegal/litigation role.
JOB DESCRIPTION & REPONSIBILITIES:
General
- To be responsible for the implementation and development of the in-house legal process
- Advising the Company Board and Operational Directors on any legal matters and cases
- Compiling and preparing court documents, in line with court processes
- Liaising and negotiating with clients, Solicitors and third parties on legal matters
- Attending court where required and appropriate
- Administrative duties such as filing case files, dealing with caseloads, telephone communication and written correspondence
- To carry out such other duties which are consistent with the nature, responsibilities or as necessitated by the needs of the business
- To promote and comply with the Altius Group’s policies on equal opportunities and in line with the Equality Act 2010.
- The role profile and list of responsibilities is not exhaustive, will be subject to periodic review and may be amended to meet the changing needs of the business. The post holder will be expected to participate in this process, and we would aim to reach agreement to the changes.
REQUIREMENTS:
Essential
- CILEX (Chartered Institute of Legal Executives) qualification or of similar level is preferred but not essential
- Must have knowledge of legal documents and court procedures, ideally with paralegal training
- Knowledge of the financial and legal due diligence process or similar (from property sales for example).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to engage commercially with clients, communicate with stakeholders, colleagues and third parties
- Accurate and organised, with strong numeracy/writing skills
- Ability to work proactively and using own initiative
- Proven track record of organising and planning skills
- Exemplary levels of professionalism and levels of attention to detail
- Proficient user of all Microsoft Office packages, including Excel, Word & Outlook
