Our client is a global alternative investment specialist providing investment management, advisory, and research services to institutional investors. Your new role

  • Partner with investment and operations teams to address legal, compliance, and investment-related questions
  • Support compliance monitoring and oversight for registered investment companies
  • Monitor regulatory developments and help update internal policies and procedures
  • Review and negotiate investment-related agreements, including assignment, participation, subscription, and limited partnership agreements
  • Prepare and negotiate side letters on behalf of clients
  • Support the legal structuring and oversight of separately managed accounts
  • Assist with the review and negotiation of offering documents and service provider agreements
  • Coordinate projects and engagements with external legal counsel
  • Support registered investment company matters in collaboration with outside counsel
  • Contribute to a variety of legal and compliance projects across the firm's global offices

What you'll need to succeed

  • At least three years of relevant experience as a lawyer or paralegal within an investment management or private funds practice, law firm, or investment company
  • Working knowledge of applicable securities laws and regulations, including Japan's Financial Instruments and Exchange Act
  • Experience with private markets fund formation
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills
  • Well-organised, motivated, and comfortable managing multiple priorities
  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively to an international team
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Professional fluency in both Japanese and English
