Legal Counsel

We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute legal professional to join a high-performing in-house legal team within a large international consumer-focused organisation. This is a broad leadership role, providing strategic legal support across multiple jurisdictions and business functions while partnering closely with senior executives on key commercial and regulatory matters.

The successful candidate will act as a trusted adviser to the business, balancing legal risk with commercial objectives in a fast-paced, operationally complex environment.

Key Responsibilities:

As a senior member of the legal team, you will:

• Provide practical and strategic legal guidance on a wide range of commercial and corporate matters across the organisation.
• Serve as the lead legal adviser on consumer protection and customer-facing legal issues, ensuring compliance with evolving consumer regulations across multiple markets.
• Advise on competition and antitrust matters, supporting business activities throughout Europe and helping to navigate complex regulatory frameworks.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to manage governance, regulatory and compliance initiatives.
• Oversee data protection and privacy matters, including GDPR compliance and the development of related policies and processes.
• Support senior management in assessing legal and commercial risk, enabling informed decision-making and facilitating business growth.
• Contribute to the ongoing development of legal frameworks, controls and best practices across the organisation.

This role offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated cross-border matters within a highly visible international business that operates at significant scale.

Candidate Profile:

You will be a seasoned in-house lawyer with a strong track record of supporting commercial organisations and influencing senior stakeholders. You will combine sound legal judgement with a pragmatic and business-oriented approach.

Key requirements include:

• Approximately 10–15 years' post-qualification legal experience gained in France.
• Advanced drafting in French a must.
• Demonstrated success in a senior in-house legal position.
• Extensive experience advising on a broad range of commercial legal matters.
• Deep understanding of consumer law and experience supporting customer-facing businesses.
• Strong knowledge of European competition and antitrust law.
• Significant experience operating within an in-house legal function.
• Ability to manage complex legal issues across multiple jurisdictions and business units.
• Experience within the automotive sector, retail, logistics, consumer services or similarly operational businesses would be advantageous.
