About this role

Overview:

Inuka is working with a renewable energy developer to recruit a Deputy General Counsel based in Paris. This senior leadership role will support the legal strategy and governance of the business, providing legal oversight across the development, financing, construction, and operation of renewable energy projects in multiple jurisdictions.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal support across the full lifecycle of renewable energy projects.
  • Lead the drafting, review, and negotiation of commercial, project, and financing agreements.
  • Advise senior leadership on legal, regulatory, and contractual risks.
  • Support M&A, joint ventures, and project financing transactions.
  • Oversee corporate governance and ensure compliance with internal policies and applicable regulations.
  • Manage external counsel and coordinate cross-border legal matters.
  • Mentor and develop members of the legal team while partnering closely with commercial, finance, and development functions.

Qualifications:

  • 12–15 years of post-qualification legal experience, including significant in-house and/or top-tier law firm exposure.
  • Experience in renewable energy, infrastructure, or project development environments.
  • Strong background in commercial contracts, project finance, and corporate transactions.
  • Experience supporting cross-border projects and multi-jurisdictional legal matters.
  • Proven ability to advise senior stakeholders and lead complex negotiations.
  • Qualified lawyer with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Fluency in English required; French proficiency is highly desirable.
