Associate Lawyer

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Associate Lawyer to join our legal team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about law and eager to develop their legal expertise within a professional environment. The ideal candidate will support various legal functions, conduct research, and assist in drafting legal documents, contributing to the success of our firm’s cases and client services.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage files from intake to resolution, including agreements, negotiation, mediation, and litigation.
• Appear at motions, case and settlement conferences, and assist on trials as needed.
• Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of legal documents, agreements, pleadings, applications, contracts, and correspondence.
• Provide strategic, client-centered advice under the Divorce Act, Family Law Act, CLRA (parenting, support, and property issues), the Rules of Civil Procedure, and the Criminal Code.
• Prepare settlement briefs; assess risk, costs, and likely outcomes.
• Meet deadlines and file-management KPIs in a fast-paced practice.
• Support firm growth through excellent client service and occasional business development.

What You Bring

• Minimum 3 years of dedicated legal experience in one or more of the firm's practice areas, including Criminal, Family, or Civil law, including court attendances.
• Strong written advocacy and clear, empathetic client communication.
• Proficiency with the relevant court forms and Microsoft 365; familiarity with the Rules and local practice directions.
• Sound judgment, professional maturity, and a team-first mindset.
• Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
