Senior Law Clerk & Law Office Manager
Rashidy Law
via Indeed
About this role
A rare role for a senior clerk who has outgrown the file room.
Rashidy and Associates is an established Mississauga firm practising criminal, family, and civil litigation. We are looking for an experienced law clerk to become the operational backbone of the firm — the person who runs the office day to day and serves as our in-house authority on family law forms, filing, and procedure.
This is not a high-volume production seat, and it is not an entry-level posting. It is a senior position with real authority, direct access to the principal, and the support of an experienced team behind you. If you are an experienced clerk who effectively runs your current office but has never been given the title, the autonomy, or the compensation to match, this role was written for you.
What the role actually is
Two responsibilities, deliberately balanced:
- Office management (the majority of the role). You own how the firm runs — files, deadlines, billing and accounts-receivable support, vendors and systems, and new-client intake from first contact onward. You bring order and keep it.
- Family law expertise (the demanding part). Our family files are not high in volume, but they can be complex. Working within an experienced team, you are the anchor who knows the forms, the filing rules, and the procedure cold.
What you will do
- Own client intake: manage intake for new clients from first contact through opening the file.
- Run the office: manage file organization, diarize and protect all court and limitation deadlines, support billing and accounts-receivable follow-up, coordinate vendors and software, and keep the firm running while the lawyers are in court or away.
- Manage the document flow: receive, organize, and stay on top of the documents, financial disclosure, correspondence, and evidence that litigation files generate.
- Prepare financial disclosure: prepare and populate financial statements (Form 13.1 and related) and assemble financial disclosure briefs.
- Get documents filed correctly: put drafted letters on letterhead and legal arguments on the proper forms; ensure filings comply with the Family Law Rules, court procedure, and practice directions; and manage e-filing and deadlines.
- Manage uncontested divorces from intake to filing.
- Draft routine documents and correspondence day to day, with the firm’s lawyers handling the rest.
- Be the front line: first point of contact with clients, opposing counsel, and court staff, keeping matters moving.
- Support across practice areas: manage documents, filing, and correspondence on criminal, civil, and provincial offences matters as well.
What you bring
- Significant, hands-on family law experience — this is the essential requirement. You know the Family Law Rules, current court procedure, the forms, and the filing process, and complex files do not rattle you. A Law Clerk diploma and/or Paralegal licence is welcome; practical experience is what we are hiring for.
- Organizational judgment and leadership instinct. You build systems, protect deadlines, and bring order to a busy office.
- Competent day-to-day drafting ability and a working command of legal terminology and document sets.
- Strong written and verbal communication, discretion with confidential matters, and genuine client-service skill.
- Technical fluency: Microsoft Office (including Excel and Outlook), Adobe Acrobat, online court filing portals, and the ability to learn our practice-management software quickly.
- Fluency in Arabic is an asset.
What we offer
- Competitive base of $65,000–$85,000, set by experience, plus a strong performance bonus tied to firm results.
- Real authority and autonomy as the operational lead of the firm, with a direct line to the principal and a genuine voice in how things run.
- Breadth and growth that larger firms cannot offer — exposure across criminal, family, and civil work, and room to build the systems and the role around your strengths.
- Professional development support and a stable, long-term position for someone looking to put down roots, not pass through.
How to apply
Please submit your resume and a brief cover letter explaining why this role fits where you want to take your career. Strong applicants may be asked to complete a short, practical exercise reflecting the real work of the role.
Applications and inquiries are treated as strictly confidential. We understand that strong candidates are often currently employed.
