Role Summary

An exciting opportunity to work alongside the ANZ Legal Director & Company Secretary to support the Australia & New Zealand business. This is a true generalist role which will provide fantastic in-house experience. You will be partnering with a broad range of business functions, including manufacturing and supply, medical and regulatory affairs, marketing, innovation, sales and communications to name a few. By providing thoughtful and strategic direction, this motivated person will help guide the business to deliver commercial growth and long-term strategic initiatives, ensuring the achievement of business goals aligns with legal requirements, codes, standards and policies. This role has a direct impact on key business activities and will also help support the implementation of foundational aspects of the ANZ legal operations.

Main Responsibilities

The Legal Counsel role will work alongside the ANZ Legal Director & Company Secretary in:

• Advising on legal matters concerning the ANZ business operations, ensuring that all material legal issues are identified, effectively addressed, and if appropriate communicated or escalated internally
• Reviewing, drafting, advising and managing the legal implications of various types of commercial agreements including customer agreements in the pharmacy, grocery and e-commerce channels, and agreements relating to supply, distribution, manufacturing, procurement, advertising and licensing
• Providing consumer law advice on product marketing and advertising including claims, packaging and branding
• Advising on the R&D, development and launch of new product innovation
• Working closely with the Medical & Regulatory team on the advertising and packaging of products and related claims
• Working with the Global intellectual property and trade marks team to manage the local IP and trade mark portfolio and advise the business on IP matters
• Supporting the Quality, Pharmacovigilance and Medical Information teams by advising on ad hoc queries and issues
• Supporting any litigious matters, investigations, claims or disputes as well as advertising related claims, both defensive and proactive
• Reviewing and commenting on external communications and PR releases
• Corporate M&A deals and agreements
• Drafting board resolutions and supporting on company secretarial matters
• Creation of routine agreement templates

About You

Essential Skills & Experience

• Current legal practicing certificate in Australia
• 3 - 5 years PQE
• Law firm experience, consumer law experience highly regarded, along with FMCG, healthcare or life sciences exposure
• Strong cross-functional collaboration and influencing skills
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• High degree of professional ethics and integrity
